EMCC USA was founded on a simple conviction: that the standards, scholarship and shared ethics of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council have something distinctive to offer practitioners in the United States — and that American practice has just as much to contribute back to the global community. We are still early in that work. The people who step forward now will not be inheriting a settled institution; they will be helping to build one.
This election is an invitation to do exactly that.
Help lead the next chapter of coaching, mentoring and supervision in the United States
EMCC USA is a volunteer-led affiliate of EMCC Global, incorporated in Delaware and governed by a Board that works as a genuinely collaborative body rather than a hierarchy. Officers hold the organisation’s legal and fiduciary responsibilities; portfolio leaders each carry a domain of the work and convene the committees and volunteers who deliver it. Decisions are made together, and the portfolios are deliberately interdependent — membership needs programmes, programmes need communications, and all of it rests on professional standards.
Board members tell us the value of the role is threefold: the chance to shape a profession at a formative moment in the U.S. market, the relationships built across EMCC’s global network of affiliates and Centres for Excellence, and the practical experience of non-profit governance — which is harder to come by than it should be, and transferable well beyond us.
We are candid about the other side of it. This is unpaid work, it is real work, and the organisation is young enough that Board members do rather than only oversee. If that is the kind of contribution you are looking for, you will find plenty of room here.
What are the process, mandates and expectations - All you need to know before you apply
Nominations are now open for the EMCC USA Board of Directors. Applications close Sunday, October 18, 2026; the membership voting window runs from November 9 to December 2, 2026; and the new Board takes office on Monday, January 11, 2027.

Positions Open in this Election
Each board member sits on the Board, oversees a defined area of EMCC USA’s work, and chairs or supports related committees.
Communications
Leads EMCC USA’s communications strategy, voice, visibility, brand, reputation, and reach, amplifying the organization’s work and ideas. Integrates marketing, public relations, and member and digital communications rather than serving primarily as a content-production function.
Programs, Events & Community
Creates experiences through which members and the broader professional community learn, connect, participate, contribute, and belong. Integrates high-quality programs and events with community building, outreach, regional engagement, and pathways from participation to leadership.
Professional Standards & Development
Serves as EMCC USA’s quality and intellectual backbone, connecting standards, accreditation, professional development, research, evidence, and thought leadership. Aligns and translates EMCC Global frameworks for U.S. practice while convening expertise to strengthen professional quality.
Partnerships & Sposorships
Builds and stewards mission-aligned external relationships that create reciprocal value for EMCC USA, members, partners, and the profession. Develops strategic partnerships, sponsorships, and other resources while protecting organizational integrity and independence.
Technology & AI
Leads EMCC USA’s digital infrastructure, data practices, technology systems, and responsible use of AI. Builds the digital foundation needed today while helping the organization and profession navigate an AI-enabled future in which technology serves organizational purpose.
Terms of Office
Portfolio members are elected to serve a 3-year term, renewable once, beginning in January 2027.
Board members are expected to attend monthly Board meetings lasting about 90 minutes, lead or contribute to at least one committee, and devote roughly 10 hours per month to their portfolio. Attendance at the annual general meeting and one member event is also expected.
Who Can Stand
We are looking for people who care about the craft and the community that sustains it—not for a particular pedigree. Specifically, candidates should be:

A member of EMCC USA in good standing at the time of nomination;

Actively engaged in coaching, mentoring, team coaching, supervision, coach education, or a closely related field;

Committed to EMCC’s ethical framework and professional standards;

Able to give the time the role genuinely requires, and to work collaboratively with a Board that decides together.
Prior board experience is welcome but not required, and we would rather hear from someone with the right commitment and a willingness to learn than pass over a strong contributor for lack of a governance CV. We particularly encourage nominations from practitioners across different sectors, regions, career stages, and professional traditions — a board that reflects the breadth of U.S. practice will make better decisions than one that does not.
Self-nominations are welcome. If you would like to propose someone else, please speak with them first and confirm they are willing to stand.

A statement of interest, maximum 500 words — the role you are standing for, what draws you to it, what you would bring, and what you hope EMCC USA will become.

Your CV or professional biography, maximum 2 pages, including your credentials, current practice, and any relevant governance or volunteer experience.

A short candidate bio, maximum 200 words, and a headshot, for publication with the candidate slate.
Please submit applications by Sunday, October 18, 2026. Every applicant will receive an acknowledgment within three business days; if you do not, please write to us again, as it means the message did not reach us.
The Nominations Committee will review all applications against the criteria above, may invite candidates to a short conversation, and will present a slate to the membership for election.

Shapes the calendar of learning and connection — webinars, communities of practice, member gatherings and our annual programme — and builds the volunteer teams that deliver them.
Technology & AI
Leads our digital infrastructure and our thinking on artificial intelligence in coaching, mentoring and supervision — both how we use it as an organisation and how we help members engage with it responsibly.
Professional Standards & Development
Stewards our commitment to quality — EMCC Global’s competence framework, accreditation pathways (EIA, ESIA, ITCA, EQA), supervision, CPD and ethical practice — and translates global standards into a U.S. context.
Membership
Owns the member experience end to end: recruitment, onboarding, retention, member benefits and the feedback loop that tells the Board what members actually value.
